Baby’s Breakfast in Our Home Today: Apple Carrot Oat; Sweet Potato and Avocado

I like to give her something warm in the morning. It feels comforting to start the day with a gentle meal. Warm foods also seem to go down easier for her when she is still waking up.

Apple Carrot Oat
This apple, carrot, and oat bowl is my go-to breakfasts. It is simple and quick to prepare, and uses just a few basic ingredients that we always have on hand in our house. I peel the carrot and apple, then grate them. In a small pot, I add a little water and simmer the grated carrot and apple until soft. Then I stir in oats and cook until everything comes together into a soft, warm porridge. The natural sweetness of the apple carries through, and the carrot adds subtle flavor and a touch of color. There is no need to add any sugar or salt.

The texture is smooth and easy to eat, and the flavor is familiar and comforting. It is a nourishing way to get in fruit, vegetable, and grain all in one meal.

Sweet Potato and Avocado
Avocado is full of good fats and naturally creamy. Avocado was actually the very first food Leah tried. I still remember how enthusiastic she was that day. She grabbed the preloaded spoon right from my hand and brought it to her mouth all on her own. There began the baby led weaning journey, initiated by her.

Today I paired avocado with sweet potato. Sweet potato brings natural sweetness, fiber, and a soft texture that blends well with the creamy avocado.

I steamed the sweet potato until soft for about 30 minutes, let it cool slightly, and mashed it with ripe avocado. No seasoning is needed. The combination turned out so good. She really enjoyed it. I will be making this pairing again for sure.
